There were about eight - ten giant in 600 - 1000 lb range caught with Black Hole 450g jigging rods in P.E.I. last three years and no rods got broken yet.
The latest fight of giant with the rod is when Courtland brought 900 lb giant (estimated) to the boat using BH 450g rod last week. However the reel seat of the factory BH 450g rod got damaged though the blank was intact.
The optimum use of BH 450g factory rod is for tuna upto 400 lb with 35 - 40 lb drag and the factory rod is not recommended for giant in 600 lb - 1000 lb because the light reel seat and small guides could be damaged under 50 - 60 lb drag.
The blank of the 450g rod can be covered by warranty, but not the reel seats, grip or guides of the 450g factory rods are not covered by warranty when they are damaged for targeting giant over 600 lb with them using 50 lb drag.
When targeting giant over 500 lb, I highly recommend to use Black Hole Giant blank instead of Black Hole Cape C
