Three Days Fishing trip to Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard during Memorial Weekend
I am going to fish with Capt Jimmy the Greek for three days starting tomorrow.
If tuna are around, we go after them.
If not, we probably do bottom fishing for seabass, scup or fluke.
Capt Jimmy said seabass fishing in Nantucket Sound is out of control. If you put three hooks, you have three seabass instantly. The problem is the bag limit is only 10.
We are going to use jigs for them and look for bigger one.
We are going to explore deeper water for doormat fluke.
No matter what, we are going to have tons of fun and laughs.

We tried seabass close to Martha's Vineyard Island. But we couldn't find good concentration of seabass.
Capt Jimmy decided to try a wreck nearby and the wreck was loaded with nice seabass.

After a few drift, 5 - 6 boats found us. So we left the wreck and ran to east to join the fleet for porgy fishing.
There were about 6 - 8 party boats and many private boats and charter boats. Spring run porgy off Hyannis, Cape Cod draws lots of fishermen from other Eastern States and some travel as far as from Virginia.

I used a Black Hole Taifun jig and Biter jigs for seabass and had constant action even we anchored. Guys who used jigs caught seabass and guys who used baits caught porgy. It didn't take long to get limit of 60 (10 per person) seabass and joined porgy fishing with bait.
When I fished this area about 30 years ago, I counted my catch of porgy for two hour fishing. It was whopping 210.( there was no bag limit that time). This trip was similar. I joining said I would set the hook blindly after counting three when bait reached bottom.
I had hookups 80 percent ! Fishing was just ridiculous.
We had porgy limit and seabass limit. But fishing didn't end there.
Capt Jimmy said he wanted to catch a few striped bass by trolling umbrella rig which he designed. After catching 8 keeper striped bass,
Capt Jimmy finally said it is time to go home.

bluefish were thick too

I brought a few Taifun jig and Biter jigs and I last all of them to bluefish. Seabass hit even 8 oz Super Sardine jig even we fished in 25 ft water.

Biter jig. It worked great for mutton snapper/grouper in Key West and it works great here in MA.

I usually drink one or two can of bear while fishing, but I couldn't do it while fishing because fishing was hot and furious.

Fish soup with our catches and fresh scallop/shrimp made by Jimmy's wife, Rosa is the best I've had.

second day

It was windy and we fished seabass behind Martha's Vineyard Island.
My favorite jig for seabass is Taifun jig, but i used Bite jig instead because I lost all Taifun jigs yeasterday.
Seabass were much bigger than yesterday's. I used Black Hole Magic Eye 521XXH/JM PE2 combo. It was so much fun with the light tackle.
Unfortunately Mike didn't feel good and we had to go back to the dock early.
Funny thing was we caught several keeper striped bass at the dock using clam bellies while Jimmy pulled the boat out of water.

We are going to a Chinese restaurant which cooks for us with our seabass for dinner.

we went to Peking Palace Chinese restaurant in Falmouth, Cape Cod.
They prepared seabass in two different ways. Both were very delicious.

we went to Nantucket Island on the last day. Fluke were not there yet.
We went inshore and caught striped bass, seabass and porgy later.
I left Cape Cod 5:00 pm and arrived at home 10:30 pm by driving 280 miles. Traffic was not bas as I expected.
Black Hole Magic Eye 521XXH and 632XXH had tons of action on this trip. I am pretty sure you will love these light rods.
I have a Bermuda trip from June 5. Before then, I might go up to Cape Cod for tuna or go down to NC for grouper for more rod testing.
