Many jig fishermen in NJ/NY enjoyed fabulous yellowfin tuna jigging at canyons for decades, but
yft were scarce in recent years. They started to show up again from last year though most were small. Yellowfin usually start to respond to chunking/jigging from Aug, but this year is different. Some boats had great yft chunking trips in southern canyons at night already.
It will be very exciting year for yft jigging at canyons.

I caught way over 1,000 yft on jigs in my life, but I haven't had bigeye on jigs yet though I got several on bait.
Bigeye catches on trolling is hot at Washington canyon now. I hope I get my first bigeye on jigs this year.

Here is a report.
