I think not many fishermen caught more big dogtooth tuna than Matsutani San caught.
Looking to get some jigs for a trip I have in March . I know they like hooker jigs ,anyone have any other suggestions ?
When he designed the Hooker jig like that, there are reasons for it.
Most serious tuna jig fishermen prefer to use short, center balanced jigs like Hooker jigs.
I think most popular jigs for tuna should work for dogtooth tuna too.
Here are my recommendation:
-FCL LABO SL jig
-Seven Seaseas Hooker jigs
-8 - 10 oz flat or regular hammered diamond jig
-200g - 250g Metallic Sardine jig

Simple colors worked better than colorful colors for dogtooth tuna.
The technique for dogtooth tuna is to jerk/crank hard/fast.

These days, dogtooth are crazy.
FISHERMAN Andaman and FCL SL jigs are the ones to drop here.Silver is the right color.
I have lost a fight against a 100+Kg Dogtooth a few months ago while using a Pink DUEL Tamentai in a 40 meters depth rocky zone. Tamentai is a very good jig for Dogtooth here but it calls too much big wahoos.
Here's a pic of brand new Andaman and FCL SL after 15 minutes of several dogtooth treatment.
Hope it can help.

It looks you don't need any fancy jigs for dogtooth tuna because there are incredible amount of dogtooth and GT there which never saw jigs/poppers before according to Jack.
Especially during January to February period.(Dogtooth)
But shiny silver is the color to use these days, chartreuse is ok, blue, pink, purple and black are out.
GT are accidents, we're still do our best to avoid them.
