JIGNPOP staff went to RI to test Black Hole rods for blackfish on Capt Pat's boat out of New Port, RI yesterday
I didn't have much expectation because we have Northeast blow.
Surprisingly, blackfish were biting steadily.

Pete, who is a regular on the Frances Fleet wanted to test 7'3" Black Hole Challenger Bank 731M, which many regard as an ultimate blackfish rod and I tested new Black Hole Cape Cod Slow Pitch rod while Jane used Black Hole Magic Eye 632 XXH with which she landed 11 pounder last fall.

I always think Black Hole Cape Cod Slow Pitch jigging rods are good for any inshore fishing as the rods are very light, but they are extremely strong.
I had about 10 blackfish upto 8-9 lb and the rod bent nicely with plenty of backbone.

Pete liked the BH Challenger Bank 731M as I expected and he eventually bought the 731M Spiral rod.

Blackfish in RI and MA should get better and we plan to fish there every week in Oct from now on, weather permitting.

Jane's first tog in 2015.

There were still lots of seabass which hit green crab intended for tog.

We stop by the famous Frank Pepe Pezza for clam pizza in New Haven.
