Hi Guys,

I recently picked up a Hots One Pitch Slider PE6-10 jigging rod, and I am looking at the Saltiga 6500 to match with it. Fairly deep water jigging i suppose 100- 180 meters off the bottom. However I am worried i will buy the wrong one (i.e. 6500 or 6500H??)

Hope some of you can give some advise on which gearing would be better?

Thanks,

Han

JM PE reel's gear ratio is about 4:1 and we haven't had any issue because of pretty low gear ratio though some insist for high gear ratio for jigging.

It depends on species you target. I found high gear ratio reel is not needed for tuna, but high gear ratio reels are preferred for species like yellowtail (kingfish) or AJ.  For bottom fish like grouper or snapper, you really don't need high gear ratio reels.
