We found the best way to build the rods for giant for those who use heavy 70 plus lb drag is to use normal guides with acid wrapping.
The acid wrapped rod definitely reduce rod twisting on heavy pressure of big giant.
Some think the rod is OK when building rods with right spine. But we observed that rods twist a lot on heavy pressure of giant even with right spine.
We also found the rods twist more with high positioned roller guides which could break rods with 70 plus lb drag as Black Hole Giant blanks are very thin. the 6' Black Hole Giant blank weighs only 10.5 oz.
Based on our findings, it is our recommendation to use acid wrapping with normal guides if you want to target giant using 60 plus lb drag.
If you want to use roller guides, the max drag should be about 55 lb.
We are going to introduce thicker Black Hole Giant just for heavy roller guides.
